Focus on a fringe issue
Friday, 11th February 2022
• THERE is something seriously wrong with the news judgment these days inside the Tribune.
Of 17 pages devoted to editorial matter in the February 4 issue nine of them were taken up with the fringe issue of LGBT, surely out of all proportion to the interests of the vast number of your readers.
I think the late Eric Gordon, the pioneer who founded the Camden New Journal and then the Islington Tribune, would have ruled “think again”.
I am all for a tolerant society in Islington but I do not think such fringe issues should be rammed down our throats. It is happening a lot on the BBC and now at the Islington Tribune.
Yet in almost daily observation, over two years, I do not recall LGBT coming up once of the on the daily interchange by Islington residents using Nextdoor on the internet.
If you want a relevant issue why not chase up the chief of Islington police – probably been changed again – and ask if there have been any disciplinary incidents locally involving misogynistic treatment of women?
