HFA is inviting members to propose ways to commemorate the Queen [Joel Rouse/Ministry Of Defence Wikimedia/Creative Commons Detail 2015]

• THE Highbury Fields Association (HFA) will make a donation of £500 to each of two Highbury food banks operating in the ward, in honour of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

The Trussell Trust has been running the Islington Foodbank on the site of the Highbury Roundhouse on Ronalds Road for years: Islington Foodbank | Helping Local People in Crisis.

Elizabeth House Community Centre on Hurlock Road started its Food Hub in March 2020: Elizabeth House | Coronavirus support and information (elizabeth-house.org.uk).

You may already know that Queen’s Walk, a wide tree-lined path which runs from Highbury Place to Highbury Crescent, was named following the late Queen’s silver jubilee visit to Highbury Fields.

The HFA is inviting members to propose other, possibly more permanent, ways to commemorate the Queen on Highbury Fields, for example, a bench or new signs (perhaps with some history about Queen’s Walk) and welcomes alternative suggestions.
