POLICE in forensic suits were spotted at a playground in Highbury Fields today (Saturday) after a rape was reported.

Detectives called to the playrgound just before 4am found a teenage girl at the location.

A police spokesman said: “A male – known to the victim – has been arrested on suspicion of rape. He remains in police custody.”

Enquiries continue.

Highbury councillor Caroline Russell called the incident “shocking” and said: “My thoughts are with the girl. I hope she is getting all the support and care she needs.”
