Islington has experienced three major floods in just four years as a result of burst Thames Water pipes
FOUR months of Thames Water works will cause major disruption to travel along Highbury Grove as roads are closed.
The water company said it planned to replace a large stretch of pipes, work which has been delayed from last year, in an effort to reduce supply interruptions, improve water quality, and tackle leaks.
Islington has experienced three major floods in just four years as a result of burst Thames Water pipes, and countless families have told the Tribune how the damage from the chaos has destroyed precious belongings, or seen them moved into temporary accommodation for months.
The upcoming works in Highbury will take place in three phases, with the first necessitating closures from Baalbec Road to Aberdeen Lane, starting on July 20.
Aberdeen Lane to Aberdeen Park will later be closed, before the works shut off traffic from Aberdeen Park to Leigh Road and Kelvin Road junction.
Bus stops on Highbury Grove will be out of action, and the No 19 and No 4 bus routes will be on diversion.
