CAMDEN keeper Lawrence Vigouroux was at the heart of a promotion party this week after helping Leyton Orient lift the League Two trophy.

The 29-year-old, who has a picture of the Ampthill Square estate where he grew up tattooed on his arm, played a key role in Orient’s return to League One after an eight-year absence.

Vigouroux kept a club-record 24 clean sheets during a stellar campaign – earning him his third player-of-the-season award in a row.

Sharing the plaudits with his teammates, the former Christ Church Primary School pupil told BBC Radio London: “It’s not just down to me. We defend from the front and work so hard for each other and it’s borne fruit. It is a record that I don’t think will be broken for a while.”

Vigouroux wasn’t the only professional footballer from Camden celebrating, however. Stalwart striker Danny Hylton, who grew up on the Regent’s Park estate, was part of the Northampton Town squad that finished third in League Two on Monday.

It means the Cobblers will join Leyton Orient in the third tier next season – where a reunion between Camden’s finest could be on the cards.
