Dale Vince and Maggie Baird chat to pupils at Betty Layward Primary School
FOUR-hundred children at a primary school near Newington Green were served up their lunches by famous faces this week.
Environmentalist Dale Vince and Maggie Baird, Billie Eilish’s mum, rolled up to Betty Layward Primary School to dish out plant-based meals from their food truck.
Draped in aprons, they cheffed up a feast of cauliflower spicy buffalo wings, devils kitchen sliders, fresh salad, guacamole, and roast potatoes for the kids to enjoy.

The visit was a collaboration between Ms Baird’s charity Support+Feed, which is expanding to the UK to continue its efforts to promote sustainable diets, and Mr Vince, whose all-electric Airtream food truck is used to serve Forest Green Rovers fans.
Mr Vince said: “It is brilliant to show young people just how tasty and exciting plant-based food can be. Changing what we eat is one of the simplest, most powerful things we can do for the planet – and schools play an integral role in encouraging the next generation to establish healthy eating habits from an early age.”
He added: “Partnering with Maggie and Support+Feed means we’re not just encouraging kids to eat healthier food; we’re serving up ideas for a better, greener future.”
