THEATRE collective High Rise Entertainment challenges myths about UK drill music and its links to youth violence in The UK Drill Project at Barbican (Nov 3-12). Then, on Nov 11. Buena Vista Social Club star Eliades Ochoa will make a rare UK appearance at the venue.

Multi-Grammy award-winning Snarky Puppy guitarist Mark Lettieri plays Union Chapel on Nov 8.

• Indulge in an early Christmas sing-along at Seven Dials Winter Warm Up on Nov 17. Join the Creative Vocal Freedom Choir at the sundial pillar from 5pm-9pm during an evening of festive workshops, seasonal food and winter entertainment plus a Seven Harts of Seven Dials treasure hunt.

The Independent Label Market returns to Coal Drops Yard, King’s Cross, on Nov 12. Snap up vinyl rarities, test pressings, signed merch and advance copies in time for Christmas.

• Bono promises an evening of words, music and some mischief at his Stories of Surrender book tour to mark the release of memoir SURRENDER: 40 Songs, One Story at London Palladium on Nov 16.

Soak up some true insider knowledge at Abbey Road Studios’ Amplify event, returning for a second year of talks, masterclasses, interactive sessions and panels. Running from Nov 7-12, sessions include, Music For Film, From Bedroom Producer to Professional, Music Photography Panel, The Business of the Music Industry and more, with a packed line-up of industry figures.

• Witness incredible speed guitarists in a live shredding contest at The Black Heart (Nov 8). The top two will play a track with nu-metal band Wargasm during the band’s live set on the night, competing to take home their own Jackson American Series Soloist SL3, favoured by Anthrax’s Scott Ian and Slipknot’s Mick Thompson. Tickets free, earplugs advised!

Camden royalty Jazzie B speaks to DJ and broadcaster Haseeb Iqbal at a special Café Koko night on Nov 9, celebrating the release of his autobiography, A Happy Place, A Thumpin’ Bass For a Lovin’ Race, charting his life, growing up in London, breaking into the music scene in 1977, Soul II Soul and his life since. Jazzie takes over the decks after signing books, available to buy at the Koko shop.

• Pitchfork Music Festival returns with five nights of incredible shows from more than 50 new and established artists – including Black Country, New Road, Kae Tempest and Courtney Barnett – playing across 13 London venues. Full line-up at https://pitchforkmusicfestival.co.uk/

• Gok Wan brings soulful club classics to Ally Pally Fireworks Festival where he leads a headline DJ set on Nov 5.

The bookings at PowerHaus are becoming more noteworthy: MF Robots (Nov 12), The Districts (Nov 18), Heather Nova (Nov 20) and Glasvegas (Nov 26) are all coming up with plenty more on the website.
