A STAGE company based in Holloway is preparing to put on a special day of free performances for Islington families considered less likely to get to a theatre.
Tall Stories theatre in Holloway Road has given away 140 tickets to their production of The Gruffalo’s Child this Saturday to three different charities, including the single parent charity Gingerbread.
The show will be touring the UK and has a West End Christmas run.
Laura Woodword, Tall Stories executive director, said the charity were “delighted” to be able to invite the community in for a free show.
“It is so important that children are allowed to develop a love of theatre and the arts,” she added.
“We’re looking forward to seeing lots of smiling faces!”
Explaining the history of the theatre, which celebrated its 25 year anniversary last year, marketing manager Clare Lewis said they had started out adapting story books to theatre – and still do that.
“We are right at the forefront at developing story books and were at the beginning of the Gruffalo, beginning our shows when the book first came out,” she added.
“Our shows stand the test of time because they’re based on award-winning story books and have been entertaining children for generations.”
