In pictures: Music and art take centre stage at Haverstock School creative festival

FROM larger than life portraits to singing sensations, it was a celebration of all things artistic at Haverstock School, as the students showed off their best work from the past year.

Art, design, technology and media students showed off their work at the Creative Festival, before the school's young singers and dancers took to the stage to entertain the audience for the summer concert.

Highlights included a super-sized sketch of caretaker Richard Korah, who has worked at the school for more than three decades, by A-Level student Bayazid Hussain. 

Amanda Torio with a subverted take on the self-portrait

Also on display was a self-portrait by sixth form student Amanda Torio, who contrasted an old and young image of herself. She said: “The picture represents age and female flaws, and the perception of youth as the ideal. It shows that the inside of her is beautiful.”

Afsana and Sarrina propose a toast to the arts evening

Fourteen-year-old Sarrina, who helped out with the food and drinks on the night, said: “I have particularly liked preparing something new as a team. I am hopeless at cooking, the last thing I made was pasta, so I enjoyed following instructions and doing something like this.”
