TEACHERS and students are celebrating at the City of London Academy (COLA) Highgate Hill after an Ofsted inspection rated the school “good”, with its sixth-form centre branded “outstanding”.

This marks an improvement on the previous inspection in January 2022, when the school was labelled as “requires improvement”.

The report praised leaders for setting “high expectations for all pupils”, giving them the opportunity to “deepen their interests and widen their horizons”.

Inspectors added: “Pupils behave well in lessons and conduct themselves sensibly around the school. They are taught to be kind to each other and to be respectful of the differences of others. They are encouraged to keep themselves physically and mentally healthy and to keep safe online.”

Headteacher Prince Gennuh said the school community was “so proud of these ratings”.

He added: “Highgate Hill has dedicated teachers and students who are passionate and work exceptionally hard. I would like to thank our parents too for all their support which has been central to our success.”

Catherine McGuinness, who chairs the COLA trust board, also sent her congratulations to the school.

She said: “This is a great Ofsted report which acknowledges the hard work, passion and dedication of Prince, his team of staff and governors, and our pupils and parents.”

Ms McGuinness continued: “The City Corporation sponsors aims to provide world-class experiences and deliver exceptional education for young Londoners from all backgrounds. Every child has the right to quality education, and we work closely with the school to ensure it continues to thrive.”
