TIME has run out on the much-loved Highbury Fields Bandstand – after Islington launched a consultation on what to replace it with.
Proposals for £850,000 “improvements” include a “biodiversity-boosting wildlife garden” and a “modern café building with much-needed toilet facilities”.
Campaigners had fought to save the bandstand which housed the popular One O’Clock Club for under-fives.
The council said the building must be demolished as it is deemed “unsafe”.
