Famous pavement canopy to be rebuilt at Highgate Village coffee shop
Tuesday, 6th January 2015

A LANDMARK pavement-covering canopy which stood outside a Highgate High Street coffee shop is set to be re-built after being wrecked in a lorry crash.
Coffee company Cafe Nero confirmed it has lodged a 'listed building' planning application in order to "return the canopy to its rightful place".
The wooden canopy was taken down on the advice of the fire brigade after the crash in October.
The coffee chain said: "We loved the canopy at the front of our coffee house which is why we are working hard to ensure it is replaced as quickly as possible."
The Highgate Society's Michael Hammerson said: “It is a landmark and we want to see it back in place as soon as possible.”
