• I WANT to send sympathy to the two Georges who have looked after me and my watch for 40 years and those of my friends – I was horrified to open your paper and find out about the fire (Huge blaze wrecks two cherished businesses, July 18).

I remember when Omega, in their wisdom, decided to relocate to some southern town and, feeling abandoned, the commissionaire at their service centre took me aside and told me not to worry: “the boys are setting up in London” and so it was that I regularly went to Back Hill to have my watch serviced.
