• I NOTICED that the Tories chose to describe themselves as “Local Conservatives” on last week’s ballot papers.

Presumably they want us to believe that they are not really anything to do with the party running a government enjoying so little trust.

Boris Johnson? Never heard of him!

It’s very revealing of the Tory party’s attitude to voters that they must think people will fall for such a deceit. No wonder people are cynical about politics.

Perhaps the “Local Conservatives” could explain in what way they are independent of their own party and why, if they wish for independence, they remain within it.
