Finsbury Park flood

Last year’s flood in Finsbury Park

• REGARDING the Finsbury Park floods, it is elementary applied mathematics that the damage done to a road or street and whatever lies underneath is proportional to the fourth power of the axle weight of vehicles using that road or street, (Thames Water bosses face fury of residents forced out by Finsbury Park flood, January 17).

Ten times the axle weight, 10,000 times the damage. Hence what happened to the water pipes below Seven Sisters Road. Need we say more?
