CHAPEL Market may have won £1.4million from London’s mayor last year, but traders will have to wait a while longer to see the investment pay off.

The council surveyed market traders, local businesses and residents in autumn last year to find out what they wanted to see the money spent on.

According to the council, 68 per cent of people said they would like to see more spaces for people to sit and relax and 57 per cent of residents said they would like to see the market go green. Half of local businesses raised market litter as concerns.

The council is now working with the GLA to decide how the money is put to use, and said traders, businesses and residents can expect an update in early summer.
