I agree with Sir Keir about Primrose Hill gates

Thursday, 27th May 2021

• I HAVE just written to Sir Keir Starmer supporting his opinion that gates are needed at the entrances of Primrose Hill park.

I think this is a necessary action and an opportunity to think creatively about what gates to install. The park gets overcrowded threatening social distancing.

The grass becomes muddy with so many people walking on it. Being open all night invites all kinds of unpleasant behaviour. It is noisy and people leave litter strewn around with rubbish bins overflowing.

I would suggest a competition to create beautiful gates like the ones to enter the inner circle, though probably not that golden and ornate, but specially designed.

The gates to Regent’s Park have to be opened and closed every day so gates to Primrose Hill can be done in the same way.

I have written to the CEO of the Royal Parks, Nick Biddle Regent’s Park and Primrose Hill park manager, the chair of Friends of Regent’s Park and Primrose Hill, the Primrose Hill Community Centre, and Primrose Hill community library, to ask them to support a competition for Primrose Hill gates.
