I’m not the only person who lives alone and doesn’t have a computer or smartphone

• RE the Lonely in London special feature (August 5) I would like to thank Islington Council and Age UK for sending me (in the post) notification of the “Let’s get back together” programme (I am in one of your photos).
Since I retired I have always found many interesting things to do and attend events, classes, etc. But with the lockdowns, when everything closed, I began to feel forgotten about as time went on, with nowhere to go to.
I couldn’t be the only person who lives along and doesn’t have a computer or smartphone in Islington or elsewhere, so no access to Zoom, Facebook, or any other app. I don’t think my downstairs neighbour would have appreciated me doing an exercise class above their head anyway!
Personally I like to get out and about to do things. But I know of others that now don’t go out, too afraid to mix with other people.
Thank you for your article. There is good and bad use of technology but you can’t beat getting out there in the real world.
