ISLINGTON Council is stepping up efforts to tackle anti-social behaviour on two streets in Angel following an increase in crime reports from surrounding residents.

Duncan Street and Duncan Terrace – where a four bedroom house costs upwards of £4 million – are two residential streets behind the popular Camden Passage.

They are the focus of a new crime busting campaign that will see police and council staff visiting businesses and homes and hosting events to better understand people’s concerns.

According to a new webpage about the initiative – called the “Duncan Street area Safer Spaces Project” – there has already been a decrease in antisocial behaviour thanks to the council’s interventions in the last two months, including increased patrols, closing down two addresses linked to drug dealing, clearing drug paraphernalia and trimming shrubs in Duncan Terrace Garden.

But the council also acknowledged there was “more to do”.
