A PANTOMIME company that started life 30 years ago celebrated a very special birthday… with another pantomime.

St George’s Church in Crayford Road presented its anniversary panto, Camelot, last week to mark three decades of panto.

Set up by Reverend Simon Parke in 1993, pantomimes have been held at the Tufnell Park church ever since.

A book called Oh, Yes It Is, about the history of the community theatre group, was written by Dan Jakob and unveiled on opening night to commemorate the event.

The Rev Parke said: “It’s amazing that a little show that started life in a church hall in Tufnell Park has gone on a longer run than most shows in the West End.”

Meanwhile, stars were the main attraction on Wednesday at the annual Whitehall Park Primary School’s play, The Lost Festival Stars. Having found a collection of lost stars in their playground, the performers travelled across a host of global celebrations – including Carnival, Hanukkah, Diwali and Christmas – to reunite all the stars. The Archway school, in Hornsey Lane, saw the whole of Key Stage 1 take part in show, to the delight of the audience.
