I’ve now joined Labour – at age 78
Friday, 8th October 2021
• TILL now I’ve had total confidence in the Tribune’s independence and integrity, but this confidence was rather shaken by your coverage of the Labour Party conference.
Bluntly you seem to be kowtowing to Islington North MP Jeremy Corbyn and his whimsical supporters; and at the same time downplaying the attractions of the election-winning merits of Labour’s new leader Sir Keir Starmer.
For the first time in my life I have just joined the Labour Party. This at the age of a doddery 78. Why? Because I believe that Sir Keir has a moral compass which most politicians, sadly, do not.
That his ethics are in stark contrast to those of our current arch-mountebank of a prime minister and his corrupt (is this too strong a word?) cronies.
Our electorate, with its unerring long-term sense of what is sound and right, appears gradually to be waking up to the difference between the two men. Count me in to this awakening, please.
