Jeremy Corbyn MP: nothing to apologise for
• AS I understand it, Jeremy Corbyn said of the Equality and Human Rights Commission findings, “One anti-Semite is one too many…” and he went on to say it was the scale (as in the breadth) of the problem that was dramatically overstated for political purposes.
He was not, of course, referring to anti-Semitism itself. Why then do the misquotes keep being wheeled out and referenced time and again?
It is perfectly evident that reality is being distorted and that his words have been twisted in order to suggest something else entirely; and yet we rarely, if ever, focus on the behaviour of those anti-socialists – both outside and within the Labour Party – who continue their punishment of Corbyn by peddling these expedient lies about him.
Nevertheless, and despite the obvious bias of his detractors, Alison McGarry is right (Corbyn supporters: We will not go away, January 31); there are a great many of us here in Islington North who want back our wonderful MP.
He is a man of truth and compassion, integrity and inclusivity – and these qualities have remained in constancy throughout all his years as a politician.
It’s a real shame, in all senses of it, that despite a few honourable exceptions most Labour MPs, some of whom got their careers going in Jeremy Corbyn’s shadow cabinet, have not subsequently shown him the support, respect and consideration he once showed them.
He will always have my vote whether he sits as an independent or as an MP for the Labour Party.
In spite of having always been a Labour voter, I would really be hard-pressed to vote for the party now while Sir Keir Starmer is at the helm and Jeremy Corbyn remains in this political limbo.
He is absolutely entitled to have the parliamentary whip restored and he has nothing to apologise for.
