Jeremy Corbyn

• ISLINGTON TUC is proud that Jeremy Corbyn MP became our honorary president in September 2023.

Corbyn has, over 40 years as MP, been the first to show solidarity with workers in struggle.

More recently, over the last two years of mainly public sector strikes, he has been on dozens of picket lines, supporting teachers, rail workers, university staff, National Health Service staff, and more.

He was in the forefront in saving the Whittington Hospital accident and emergency and maternity departments and he has long campaigned for the NHS to be kept out of the private sector.

This struggle will unfortunately have to continue with the next government and on this we are on the same side as Corbyn.

As local activists from a wide range of trade unions, some affiliated to the Labour Party and some not, we recognise that nationally our trade unions will generally prefer to see a Labour government and we also support this.

However, given the local circumstances in Islington North the significant majority of our delegates support Corbyn and ask you to do so too.

ANDY BAIN
President, Islington Trades Council
