Jeremy Corbyn – what a waste!

Islington North MP, Jeremy Corbyn

• I AM not a “fan” of the former leader of the Labour Party and Islington North MP, Jeremy Corbyn but I do feel some sympathy for him.

This is because he will undoubtedly be feeling a sense of heartache due to the estrangement from the political party for which he was first elected as an MP in 1983.

Now, as an independent, he must wait to find out if loyal, Islington North Labour supporters will vote to keep him as their MP.

The consequence for Corbyn’s refusal to “retract” controversial comments in the wake of the Equality and Human Rights Commission October 2020 report, Investigation into antisemitism in the Labour Party, means that all those years representing the Labour Party will have come to nothing for him.

If and when Sir Keir Starmer leads the Labour opposition to success, Jeremy Corbyn won’t be able to play his part in healing the many wounds inflicted by the Tory government under the awful leadership of Boris Johnson.

In the words of the late Ian Dury, “What a waste”.
