Join the partying in Whitecross Street

Friday, 1st October 2021

• I READ the letter (Festival disrupts residents, September 17) complaining about the Whitecross Street party.

While I understand such events may not be of interest to all, what cannot be denied is the joy they bring, especially after the past few years.

We all live with external noise, whether it be works, or a market, etc. It is part of living in a vibrant borough in a wonderful city.

If the street party causes concern, perhaps an outing could be arranged for those days or, even better, come and join in like most other locals.

The market is a wonderful gift on Whitecross Street, it is part of a tradition loved by most. It is all cleared away by 4pm.

The builders and construction workers run hand in hand with the locals and office workers, satisfying their appetites with the goodies on offer. Why would anyone want to deny folk this?

Tolerance is a virtue, we need a lot more. Life is tough enough.

A happy local
