Joyce, a beautiful smile and kind words
Friday, 4th August 2017
• THANK you for the mention of The Stuart Low Trust annual celebration, my last as chair (Flowers and thanks for a ‘unique lady’, July 28).
However, the woman standing next to me is Patsy Keane, long-time SLT supporter and Islington resident who had suggested taking the picture.
Joyce Dutch is a wheelchair user who delivered a beautiful personal tribute at the event. Joyce’s smile, determination and willingness to be supportive of others in the face of chronic illness deserves a special mention.
I wish I had a picture of Joyce, but think of a beautiful smile and kind words and you can imagine Joyce.
I’m grateful to all the staff, funders and volunteers (including the informal helpfulness of participants) who have brightened the lives of the people around them, including mine, over the years.
Of less significance to most readers is that I’ve got a few more months before retirement.
