TWO men have been arrested in connection with a fire that destroyed a takeaway and two flats in Holloway.

The blaze, which erupted from the Dubai Shawarma kebab shop in Seven Sisters Road in the early hours of last Thursday, is being investigated by the Metropolitan Police.

On Friday the two men – who have not been named – were arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life and taken into custody before being bailed.

At the scene, residents living above the take-away told the Tribune how they were awoken by the fire alarm just before 4am and were rushed to hospital after inhaling smoke.

It is the second time this year that a major fire has damaged businesses in the road.

In February, more than 40 firefighters were called to a blaze near the junction with Holloway Road, which had been caused by a “heat source placed too close to combustible items”.
