Keeping my fingers crossed about the changes to the New River path
Friday, 15th September 2023
• IT was quite pleasing to walk along rather more of the New River path than has been possible over the past six months, and to see a small gaggle of ducks happily pottering about.
It was also interesting to note the new aeration points installed at intervals, as well as a new cascade which makes a delightful rippling sound.
However I was somewhat dismayed at the volume of green waterweed, which appears already to be choking almost the whole course of the waterway. One hopes someone will be keeping an eye on this, as it will certainly affect the quality of the water if left.
I was not surprised to see that the final stretch from Willowbridge Road to New North Road is still not open to the public, though there does now appear to be water in the channel.
Am keeping fingers crossed…
