A FINSBURY Park primary has made “a boring room so cool”, its pupils said, at the launch of a high-tech new learning space in the school building’s attic.

Mayor of Islington Jason Jackson cut the red ribbon at Ambler Primary School’s “Curiosity Lab” on Wednesday morning.

Children will learn science, design and technology, and art in the colourful new classroom designed by school parent Sorrel Challands, and funded by Friends of Ambler, the parents’ association.

Cllr Jackson said: “The work done to create the lab is a credit to the wider network of the school.

“It is a typical Islington story in the way it has brought the community together to create something amazing.”

Headteacher Sandy McNicholl said: “It was a room that was kept hidden and now is a buzzing hub for learning. The room always had potential but someone needed to bring the ideas to life. Sorrel and the Friends of Ambler group did that. The Curiosity Lab is for the children to be creative and to give them the best experience of STEAM learning – it is lovely to see the children already creating.”

A mass of excited pupils told the Tribune that “the room was boring before and now it is so cool”.
