A SCHOOL just off Upper Street has reassured parents after two members of staff went into self-isolation.
Laycock Primary School head Suzanne Bate send a message to parents and carers today (March 13), confirming the two staff members had come down with flu-like symptoms.
The school is set to follow government advice and remain open.
Headteacher Suzanne Bate has emailed parents, and the news was also shared on the Laycock Street school’s social media.
A message on their Twitter feed said: “Please be assured that the school is following all guidelines for coronavirus. We have two members of staff who absent today due to self-isolation. If you feel your child is vulnerable or has a temperature, please keep them at home. Many thanks.”
The school is also understood to be sending a child-friendly coronavirus explainer pack to all families to help to reassure children and clear up any misunderstandings about the virus.
Schools across the country remain open despite closures in other countries, as the UK government announced the start of its ‘delay’ phase.
Anyone with a persistent cough or temperature should stay at home for seven days, under new government guidance.
The pandemic, as it was classified for the first time this week by the World Health Organisation, has seen more than 120,000 infections and more than 4,000 deaths.
Health officials maintain that one of the strongest ways to slow down the spread is regular hand-washing.
Ten British people have died from Covid-19 so far.
More than 10,000 across the country may already have it, health officials yesterday (Thursday) suggested.
