• STEPHEN Horne tells us that Leavers responded (?) to the 1975 referendum with 40 years of misrepresentation and lies concerning the EU, (The leavers have given us 40 years of misrepresentation and lies, November 2).

The biggest lie of all was when I went to vote in 1975 and was told it was for a new trading area, not the European super-state it turned out to be.

Richard Rosser (Young people had every right to take their case to the steps of Parliament, November 2) tells us of the young people who will be affected who do not like what they see. We are often told that older Leave voters will be gone.

But we know what it was like to live in a sovereign country that made its own laws, controlled its own borders and did not send millions to Brussels where millions have gone missing in the last 16 years and accountants have refused to sign off the accounts.

The final straw for me came when, a few days before the vote, a directive was sent by the EU telling farmers the size and shape their hedges should be. Millions of Brits living abroad did not have the vote on their future as they have chosen to live in a different country.
