CHILDREN (and their parents) ran off to the circus on one of the hottest days of the year as Finsbury Park’s Ambler Primary School celebrated its most successful summer fair – and their first in three years – after raising £9,000 for the school.

More than 1,700 raffle tickets were sold as children vied for the top prizes of a Nintendo Switch and a signed Arsenal T-shirt, while firefighters from Islington fire station helped the crowds keep cool by turning over the hoses to the children.

As part of the circus-themed day, other activities included stilt walking, juggling and hoola hooping, along with pottery-making skills with local potters Claytime.

Deputy head teacher Sandy McNicholl said: “The list of those to thank is endless, from the parents who baked and brought food, to those serving drinks, to the teachers, the volunteers who helped set up and clear up, and above all to our tireless Friends of Ambler committee who delivered the most successful summer fair Ambler has ever seen!”
