Litter left to fester for weeks on Islington streets
Friday, 26th May 2017
• HAS anybody else noticed the serious proliferation of litter in Islington over the last year or so?
This epidemic not only affects Upper Street and other thoroughfares but also side and residential streets alike. Plastic bottles, cans and wrappers are frequently left to fester for weeks without any apparent attempt by the council to clear them, despite the presence of street cleaners.
What they consider to be their role can only be a mystery, since they seem to ignore a significant proportion of the rubbish left on pavements and in kerbs.
As this issue worsens it will only feed on itself, as it will seen to be acceptable to just drop litter rather than dispose of it responsibly. Not only is this major problem an eyesore to residents, but it is bad for our environment and a health and safety hazard.
Come on, Islington Council, this is a real problem.
