Closed: Wells Terrace exit from Finsbury Park station
• PARK Theatre was built to be a welcome and accessible building for everyone. However, this ambition is being severely tested by the lengthy closure of the Wells Terrace exit from Finsbury Park station.
Ann Devine highlighted these issues, (My blocked theatre route, March 30). She is a keen attendee at Park Theatre and it is a matter of great concern that her journey to us is so hampered by the extensive building works.
She has emphasised her determination to continue to see as many shows here as possible despite the difficulties, but there may be other potential visitors who have decided to suspend their Park Theatre visits until the lengthy period of disruption is over.
We all recognise the importance of making Finsbury Park a step-free station. Ironically, the works to undertake these improvements, running alongside the major build that is City North, have resulted in our award-winning, accessible theatre becoming inaccessible for many.
Sadly, this will remain the case until at least 2019. The team here at Park Theatre will continue to do everything we can to encourage and facilitate visits from access users, but many of the challenges highlighted by Ann are beyond our control and we must look to London Transport and the City North developers to do everything in their power to mitigate the problems.
