‘Residents need to wake up and realise what is on the Islington Labour agenda before it’s too late’

• SO this is what residents have to look forward to from Islington Labour councillors.

This week the council’s executive were set to meet and approve (dependent on vehicle):

— up to 120 per cent increase on resident parking permits for electric vehicles;

— up to 37.5 per cent increase on resident parking permit surcharge for diesel vehicles; and

— up to 50 per cent increase on resident parking permits for petrol/diesel vehicles.

In addition to this their “Building a net-zero carbon Islington by 2030” policy includes: “Transform Islington into an exemplary borough for walking, cycling and accessibility, including the reallocation of road space.

“Investigate phasing out resident and business parking permits for diesel and petrol vehicles by 2030.

“Collaborate with the Mayor of London to develop London-wide approaches to workplace parking levies and road-user charging.”

Islington residents need to wake up and realise what is on the Islington Labour agenda before it’s too late.

Elections May 2026… Save the date.
