Protesters calling for a stop to road closures across the Islington

• I DISAGREE with Dr R that the residents of Islington, by voting Labour on May 6, have delivered a clear message of support in favour of low traffic neighbourhoods, (There’s a mandate now for low traffic neighbourhoods, May 14).

I voted for a Labour council because they support the building of much-needed council homes and oppose the inhumane cuts to public services under the Tories.

I am against LTNs. They are responsible for the horrendous daily gridlock in Islington which increases pollution, often adding an hour to journeys that used to take 10 minutes, as well as affecting a significant drop in trade for many shops.

I’ve enjoyed living in Islington for the past 30 years but LTNs have created a divided borough. I hope these ill-thought-through traffic schemes are removed as soon as possible.
