DETECTIVES were last night (Thursday) appealing for witnesses to come forward after an attack left a young man with “life-changing” injuries.

The Met and the London Ambulance Service were called to Ironmonger Row, near Old Street, shortly after 7.30pm on August 14. The injured man, 20, had a “puncture wound” and was taken to hospital where he remains.

Residents contacted the Tribune warning that the area was becoming more and more dangerous. A 56-year-old woman was initially arrested for possession of an offensive weapon but was released without charge.

Yesterday the Met arrested a 35-year-old man on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He remains in police custody but has not been charged.

Anybody who witnessed the incident is urged to call 101, quoting 6985/14AUG. You can also file an anonymous report via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, or at crimestoppers-uk.org
