A MAN has appeared in court charged with the murder of his wife after a fatal fire in Finsbury Park.

Kaltoun Saleh, 43, died nearly seven weeks after a fire in a flat in Noll House, Corker Walk on the Andover Estate.

She sustained serious burns in the fire on July 5 but despite the best effort of medics at a specialist burns unit, she died on August 21.

Her 44-year-old husband, Abdi Quule also sustained burns and after treatment he arrested and later charged with attempted murder.

At the Old Bailey today, police upgraded this charge to murder. Quule was remanded in custody and is next due to appear for plea in November.

Four children were also taken to hospital as a precaution after the fire but they were not serious injured. One neighbour described Ms Saleh as a “friendly and very nice” woman.
