TWO young women have been arrested after an assault in Holloway left a man fighting for his life in a hospital bed.

Officers attended the scene in Hungerford Road at around 4pm last Friday, where a man aged 50 was found with injuries.

He was taken to hospital where he was still being treated this week. His condition has been assessed as potentially life-threatening. A police cordon closed the road for all of Friday.

On Sunday, police arrested two women, aged 18 and 19, on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

They were taken into custody but have since been released on bail while enquiries continue.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses to come forward. Anybody with any further information should contact the police on 101 with the reference 1063/10Jul
