Man is charged with aiding Pentonville prison break

DETECTIVES investigating the escape of two prisoners from HMP Pentonville have charged another man.
Shaun Power, 33, of Kettering Road, Romford, has been charged with harbouring an escaped prisoner. He was bailed to appear before Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on Friday, May 12.
Two other people have previously been charged as part of the investigation. Kelly Baker, 21, of Friars Close, Ilford, was charged with assisting an offender. She pleaded guilty at Blackfriars Crown Court in December and will be sentenced at a later date. Scott O’Reilly, 49, of Shepherd’s Lane, Homerton, was charged the same offence last month.
Two other people were arrested for assisting an offender, a 24-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man. The woman has been bailed pending further enquiries and the man has been released from bail and will face no further action.
The investigation began after two prisoners, Matthew Baker and James Anthony Whitlock broke out of their cells and scaled the prison walls in November last year. Both were found within days and arrested.
Baker, 29, pleaded not guilty to prison escape during an appearance at Blackfriars Crown Court and a trial has been set for June 5.
Whitlock, 32, pleaded guilty at the same court. and will be sentenced at a later date.
