POLICE have released a man “under investigation” after an alleged anti-semitic attack in Highbury.
A 69-year-old man was attacked at Highbury Corner at about 1.30pm on February 26 and suffered facial injuries. A 44-year- old man was stopped nearby and arrested on suspicion of a racially-motivated attack but was later detained under the Mental Health Act.
An eye-witness told the Tribune that the attacker had asked the victim if he was Jewish before the attack.
The incident, which is being investigated by the police’s safeguarding unit, is being treated as a hate crime.
