Many young men’s lives could be saved with good healthcare

‘We should not see young men taking their own lives just because they cannot get access to medical care’
• THOUSANDS of men, mainly young and white, take their own lives every year and all we get are people in high places, NHS etc, talking about suicide but nothing really gets done.
Cllr Troy Gallagher is talking about it as well (Outgoing mayor: We need to talk about male suicide, June 3). But that is not helping.
If the men could see a GP and then a mental health consultant many lives could be saved. But they cannot get to see a GP or a consultant.
To get to see a mental health consultant the person has to be suicidal and then they could be sectioned against their will.
If they do get to see a GP they are then sent off to talking therapy which is a waste of time.
If you had a broken leg you would not be sent to talking therapy so why do people with depression or mental health get sent to talking therapy.
This is an epidemic and the health service has blood on its hands. The majority of these people have been taxpayers; but the taxpayer does not benefit from the NHS.
I am old now so I am not bothered any more about the NHS; but we should not see young men taking their own lives just because they cannot get access to medical care.
