THE Mayor of Islington Anjna Khurana yesterday laid a wreath at the Town Hall war memorial to commemorate D-Day.

She was joined by David Dade from the Royal British Legion. Islington Veterans Association (IVA) decided to postpone the scheduled parade as many of their members had been asked to attend commemorative events elsewhere.

The Normandy landings in 1944 began the liberation of France in the Second World War.
