New mayor Cllr Troy Gallagher 

• LGBT+ charity forum+ is delighted that Islington’s new mayor Cllr Troy Gallagher has chosen us as one of his charities for his mayoral year.

We share Cllr Gallagher’s passion for social justice. In recent years we have evolved from supporting victims of stigma and hate crime to become an educative force for the wider public with an agenda to improve community cohesion and resilience and really enhance individual wellbeing – all to create a fairer and happier society for all.

Our small charity is only able to provide our subject expert, outreach and events work, thanks to the ongoing grant support of our funders – including Islington and Camden councils.

With resources stretched tighter by Covid-19, the Islington mayor’s thoughtful inclusion of our charity will really help our work continue this year and next.

This will include putting on LGBT History Month and an array of LGBT-themed celebratory and memorial events that bring together both boroughs’ LGBT+ communities and their friends.

After the year we’ve had, that will be a huge consolation to many who have experienced loss or illness, been socially isolated, or lacked company or emotional support.

Here’s to a brighter and safer future.
