Frank McKeever
A MAN was killed after making a video confession that he had assaulted his step-daughter, a court has heard.
Frank McKeever, 63, was reported missing in September 2022 and was last seen walking along Highbury Park, close to the junction with Highbury Grange.
Police have been searching for his body ever since.
His step-daughter Surie Suksiri, 30, and her boyfriend Juned Sheikh, 47, have been charged with his murder and preventing a lawful burial, which they deny. Their trial began at the Old Bailey on Wednesday.
William Emlyn Jones KC said Mr McKeever arrived at his late wife’s daughter’s house just before 7pm on August 28.
A little over an hour later Ms Suksiri texted a 47-second video to Mr Sheikh’s sister of Mr McKeever admitting he assaulted her when she was just six years old, jurors were told.
The court heard that the film ended with him saying he deserved to be punished.
Mr Emlyn Jones KC said: “After that night, Frank McKeever was never seen again. He did come out of the flat once together with Juned Sheikh – they left for a few minutes and then they both headed back to the flat. “And that’s it – after that Frank McKeever vanished off the face of the Earth.”
Jurors heard that, according to Ms Suksiri, Mr McKeever died at her flat but she does not know how.
Mr Emlyn Jones KC alleged that both she and Mr Sheikh drove Mr McKeever’s body out to a remote location and dumped it. He said jurors would have to consider “whether she was so frightened of what Juned Sheikh would do if she didn’t help him dump the body that she did it completely against her will”. The trial continues.
