More in common
Canal clean-up in memory of murdered MP

It was a joint effort to tidy up the towpath
NEIGHBOURS and councillors braved the heat for a canal clean-up in memory of Jo Cox, the MP who was murdered in 2016.

The cross-party event last month was intended to honour her message that we have “more in common than that which divides us.”
There have been several sessions to pick up rubbish from the Regent’s Canal, and volunteers filled bags with everything from crisp packets to unopened wine bottles.

Labour councillor Heather Staff, who organised the litter-picking, said: “It was an honour to support the Jo Cox Foundation’s Great Get Together through our canal cleanup. We did so on the tenth anniversary of her death, demonstrating unity by working together as community champions.”
