Protests have taken place in Upper Street

A NEW “people-friendly streets” neighbourhood will be created in Clerkenwell, the Town Hall has said.

The road closure changes are being imposed without consultation as an alternative to the public transport system as schools reopen and workers return to offices.

Several protests have been held in recent weeks outside the Town Hall in Upper Street.

Work on the scheme in Clerkenwell is set to start on Monday, September 7, and will involve the implementation of four traffic filters.
