Mourning latest knife victim
Friday, 1st June 2018
• MY poem in mourning for the victim of (yet another) fatal stabbing in Upper Street:
Upper Street Memorial
The flowers
tied
roughly to
the lamppost
are fading
already
– their messages
scrawled
on postcards
running in
the rain.
All these
condolences
will not
bring life
again
& a strong
young
body
its veins
bursting with
energy
is stilled
its laughter
mocked by
our
misery.
