Must shops treat us all like thieves?
Friday, 18th August 2017
• IT is no longer a pleasure to go shopping; it is an ordeal. In Holloway and elsewhere, customers are being watched constantly by staff and security.
I asked a manager in one of the big stores in Holloway why customers were being watched so much and his answer was: “Well, we have so much crime in our stores.” My reply was: “Why do the majority have to pay the price for the minority who steal things?”
Most people are good, law-abiding, honest citizens. I would say to shops: Start treating customers as good people and not thieves.
