My thanks to parking warden who came to my aid

• I CANNOT claim normally to experience feelings of warmth and pleasure every time I spot one of Islington’s traffic enforcement vehicles but, following an incident yesterday afternoon, I will now always be reminded of an act of kindness.
Almost immediately after closing my front door, intending to pick up my wife from her office in the City, I realised I had left my car key indoors. As I turned back to open the door, I overbalanced and fell backwards down the front steps.
Lying there, trying to assess any injuries I had sustained, I became aware of a uniformed young man getting out of his enforcement vehicle, parked a few yards up the road, and hurrying over to me.
He asked if I was okay and whether he should call an ambulance. He waited with me until I was sure I had nothing more than a graze and some bruising and I had assured him I was alright.
I hope I thanked him properly at the time, but in case I did not I would like to do so via this letter. I might well have needed some help and it was very good to know there was someone there in seconds offering to assist.
